IN THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE
The recovery journal
Adapted from Eunwoo’s original account.
Before surgery

Always editing photographs before sharing them
Eunwoo felt self-conscious about several facial features and usually retouched photographs before posting them on social media. His upturned outer eye corners, nasal hump and facial bone structure were concerns. He had previously tried filler for his nose and was looking forward to a more lasting change.
2 weeks after surgery

Managing the early recovery period
After the canthoplasty stitches were removed, the uncomfortable sensation around his eyes improved. He was concerned about bruising after having several procedures together. He described using compresses, taking walks and wearing a compression garment during recovery. His gums were still healing, so chewing remained uncomfortable at this stage.
2 months after surgery

Seeing the shape he had wanted
By two months, he said that bruising had resolved and much of the swelling had settled. He felt that his eyes and nose looked natural and was pleased with their shape. He continued using his compression garment and reported recovering well enough to manage his daily routine.
6 months after surgery

Comfort in everyday activities
At six months, he reported that the uncomfortable sensation in his gums had gone and that he could eat and open his mouth comfortably. He felt happy with his appearance and no longer felt the same need for extensive makeup or photo retouching.
